You can now play The Evil Within 2 in First-Person!

Bethesda has now launched a free update that will allow you to play The Evil Within 2 in First-Person, taking inspiration from the likes of Amnesia, Outlast, Resident Evil 7 and more.  There has been an unofficial PC mod available for quite some time, but now Bethesda has decided to make their own official update.  The Evil Within 2 was one of my favourite games of 2017 and despite me playing through it a couple of times already, this has certainly encouraged me to visit once more to experience the new perspective.  Making the viewpoint more up-close and personal, it should offer new challenges and even enhance the horror experience.

Tango Gameworks developer, Shinsaku Ohara had this to say on the new perspective:

A lot of players like playing horror games in first-person, so for those who want to see some of the game’s situations through Sebastian’s eyes, it’s a really neat experience,” said Tango Gameworks’ producer, Shinsaku Ohara. “I think exploring Union in first-person makes the scale feel even bigger than it does when you’re in third-person. Also, being able to see our environments and enemies up close allows players to get an even better look at how much effort went into their designs.

The update is optional, so if you don’t want to play the game in First-Person, then you don’t have to, but if you do, you just activate the option via the menu.  The free update is available right now for PC, PS4 and Xbox One, and to give you a hint as to what to expect, then check out the new gameplay trailer below.

Also, if you haven’t experienced The Evil Within 2, then now may be the time, even if you haven’t played the first game (which is also fantastic by the way) and if you need further convincing, then be sure to read our review here.
