Those who assumed the games announced at Sony’s press conference during E3 2013 were the only ones to be released this year need to guess again: Sony plans to announce more Game titles at GamesCom, Europe’s equivalent to E3 2013.

At E3 Sony unveiled the PS4 as well as a new IP called The Order 1886 at E3.  Speculation regarding what else was coming from first party studios, like Naughty Dog & Media Molecule, circled the gaming world ever since.  Jim Ryan, president of Sony’s presence in Europe, announced Sony will reveal more games during the PS4 show. Furthermore, he confirmed that the PS4 will be released in Europe before Christmas 2013. He said, “There’s a lot coming. I’m sure you heard from Shu [Yoshida] that he has 30 games in development. 20 of them are going to ship within the first year of the console’s life, and of those 12 are new IP.”

One of the big challenges for Sony at Gamescom will be to continue the momentum they earned at E3. This momentum began because Sony announced a PS4 that does not require constant connection to the internet, and used games could be easily traded and exchanged. This was in stark contrast to Microsoft’s policies regarding the Xbox One. Now Microsoft has reversed those policies, which took away many of Sony’s trump cards. What Sony needs to emphasize now is that it has many more games lined up to be released for the console, as well as showing that even when bought separately, the PS4 plus PlayStation Eye is much more economic than the Xbox One which already includes the Kinect.

Nevertheless, we look forward to seeing  what Sony has in store for the PS4 at GamesCom this year, which will be from August 21st-25th.
