UK Online Retailer Zavvi is currently listing Assassin’s Creed III for release on the Playstation Vita. Sony have previously discussed the possibility the series appearing on the Vita, but no specific entry was stated or title announced. A spin-off entry following on from the original Assassin’s Creed, Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines was released for the PSP, and did a great job at slimming down the core gameplay to the handheld, albeit with a lot less civilians to get in the way.

With the major increase in performance that the Vita has over the PSP, an Assassin’s Creed title could be pretty stunning on the device, and with the proper anlogue stick controls, it could feel just like its console counterpart.

This is of course a rumour at this stage, but it’s not completely unbelievable, and with E3 2012 just around the corner, expect lots of Assassin’s Creed III news to come from the Ubisoft Press Conference on Monday 3pm PST, 11pm GMT.

Assassin’s Creed III is set for release on October 30th (31st in Europe) for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. A WiiU version will also be released, though a date is unknown at this time.
