DriveClub has had a very disappointing launch due to the PS+ version being delayed and the online servers having many issues at launch. Evolution Studios has had a lot to handle over the past week, and it’s a real shame the title is not showing its full potential as of yet.

At the moment, the DriveClub servers are still currently unable to cope fully with its high demand, many gamers have struggled to connect to its online custom features such as create a club, let alone online races.  The actual problem started even before the game released in Europe, with the United States having to experience the issues first hand. This has caused Evolution to force a temporary implement of a one in, one out policy. Meaning you won’t be able to log in unless another player disconnects.

Director Paul “Rushy” Rustchynsky said in the statement below that he believed DriveClub was able to cope with the amount of players at launch, following pre-launch server tests.

We ran a beta test and none of these issues occurred,” Rustchynsky wrote on Twitter. “We had confidence everything was ready. These issues were unexpected. We did run large scale synthetic load tests with tens of thousands of concurrent users and the tests were successful.

Naturally many fans have angry at not being able to get the most out of the game that they’ve purchased, so when a fan asked Paul “Rushy” Rustchynsky if early adopters of the game would be compensated with some DLC, Paul responded by saying “We’re considering all of our options right now“.  You can check out that Tweet below:

Just earlier today, the official DriveClub Facebook page had an update on the server improvements after the latest patch for the game was released.

After more successful upgrades and updates to the servers today, performance continues to improve and more of you will be able to play online together.

We’re still working, and will be around the clock, to keep improving social connectivity and online play, and we are pleased to say we have also added in friendly leaderboards now.

We will have info about more updates to the game and the servers soon. In the mean time, while this work continues, we are also paying attention to all of the feedback and comments you’re sharing with us too – so please keep sharing so that we can keep improving the game and giving you more to play for.

It’s a real shame that I have been holding back my review hoping the online would have been fully sorted by this week, though after today’s update it does seem that the servers are becoming more stable and easier to connect, so there is hope on the horizon.

Keep a lookout for our review of DriveClub over the next few days.
