During an interview with J-Wave, developer Hideo Kojima revealed that Death Stranding’s development is a little behind schedule.  Thankfully though, it’s not behind by much according to the main man himself.

Kojima said “It’s common for studios to fall behind their planned release date, and Death Stranding is very slightly behind our initial plan, but not behind by much.

It’s also worth remembering that Hideo Kojima games very rarely release on schedule and that’s because he comes across as a perfectionist, and as his track-record shows, all that hard work and delays, certainly pays off.  But it’s also comforting to know that the game is only a little behind schedule anyway, and with this being his first game since leaving Konami, he’ll want it to be as perfect as it can be.

Hopefully with a bit of luck, Death Stranding will release this year, but if it doesn’t, it will no doubt be worth the wait regardless.  Death Stranding will release for PlayStation 4.
