EA Sports has quietly announced that the latest game in their rebooted basketball series has been delayed by three weeks. NBA Live 15 is now due to be released on October 28th for Xbox One and PS4. Although reasons have yet to be explained by EA Sports, it is believed that the release of rival title NBA 2K15 on October 7th is the main reason for the delay.

The previous title, NBA Live 14, was met with widespread criticism from both the media and the public alike. NBA Live made its return last year after a four year hiatus and, although there were two games cancelled during this time with NBA Elite 11 and NBA Live 13, it seems as though the series has almost had to start from scratch after last year’s disappointment.

It is tough to see how NBA Live could regain the momentum the series once had in the mid-2000’s as the NBA 2K series has set the bar so high for basketball games. In my eyes, it may take more than a few years for NBA Live to get anywhere near the heights of the 2K series, especially with NBA Live 15 now being released a few weeks after 2K’s latest effort.
