Over on the PlayStation Blog it was not only announced that a playable demo for GT Sport would be releasing on the PSN Store next week, but your in-game progress will carry over into the main game come release.  The demo especially is great news for those that may have missed out on the beta, or  perhaps for those that did participate in the beta and wanted to see how far the development has come.

Sadly the demo will only be available for a short time, so you’ll need to get in there quick and make the most of it while you can before it’s gone.  Dubbed “GT Sport 4-day demo”, it will be available from October 9th at 10am (BST)/12am (PT) and will end on October 12th at 2pm (BST)/12am (PT).

Sport Mode

As already mentioned, your progress in the demo will carry over into the main game.  For example, it is possible to earn up $1mm of in-game credits during the demo, to then spend in the full game, which is fantastic and is something that we don’t see in demos very often.  In the demo you’ll also be able to sample the Sport Mode, Campaign Mode and Arcade Mode, details of which can be found below.

In Sport mode, drivers get to prove just how fast they are by putting down their fastest lap time. At the end of each qualifying session, it’s an all-out battle against drivers with similar performance abilities ensuring each race is equal, fair, and highly competitive.

Campaign mode gives players the chance to improve driving skills across numerous challenges, missions, and circuit experience. Each of these modes play a key role in making every driver better prepared for racing online against others. As you complete various trial and Daily Workouts, you will be awarded with numerous vehicle unlocks, in-game currency, and Experience Points, furthering your Driver Profile and personal garage.

For those looking to just jump in and drive, the Arcade mode offers a wide range of vehicle classes on 3 pre-selected circuit configurations with different terrains. Whether you want to go for high-speed oval racing on Northern Isle, hone your technical skills on Dragon Trail, or drift sideways through the corners in rally, race on your own terms as you choose from multiple driving aids including braking and or steering to hone your skills. You can also race against a friend offline in the classic 2-Player Split screen mode.

Arcade Mode

New features in the demo (and of course in the full game) will also include Scapes Photography Mode, making use of True HDR workflow, physics based rendering, new lighting, locations and more.  We’ll also get a look at  the Custom Livery Editor, which is a first for the series.  With the Livery Editor, you will be able to customise the colour of your car, wheels, mirrors, hood, spoiler, design logos and more.

GT Sport will release for the PlayStation 4 on October 18th.
