Skyrim Kinect Support Releases for the Xbox 360, Announcement of ‘Dawnguard’ DLC

The latest update for Skyrim on the Xbox 360 is now available, implementing Kinect Voice Commands directly into your gaming experience.

The announcement of Kinect support for Skyrim was certainly interesting, and even though PC gamers have been experimenting with the idea of using Kinect previously, fans were definitely intrigued to see how Bethesda would be implementing it via an official update for the Xbox 360.

Coming in the form of Voice Commands, and featuring a library of over 200 available actions, the latest update allows Xbox 360 gamers with a Kinect to get further immersed in the experience without having to deal with fiddly menu systems.

In addition to Dragon Shouts, the Kinect for Xbox 360 integration offers voice commands throughout the game including Hotkey Equipping, Follower Commands, and all Menus (Items, Magic, Map, Barter, Container, Favorites, and Skills). With Voice Commands, quickly create and load saves during gameplay and access menus and inventories. Skyrim’s Kinect for Xbox 360 Support also adds new functionality including special map functions, additional hotkey options, and the ability to sort inventory items by name, weight, and value.

If you fancy giving it a go, the update should be live now. The full list of Kinect Voice Commands can be viewed over on the official Bethesda site, so let us know in the comments how it works out for you. IGN’s Wiki also breaks the commands down a little more, so head on over if you want a few tips on how to best use the feature.

In addition to this update, Bethesda have also officially announced their first Downloadable Content for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. While details are a little thin on the ground at this time, it’s called ‘Dawnguard‘ and will be releasing as a timed exclusive for the Xbox 360 this summer, with more details to follow at E3 2012. The DLC will of course follow at a later stage to the PC and PS3.

Bethesda are certainly working hard to keep gamers engaged in Skyrim, and with promise of even more DLC following Dawnguard, your adventures should last for quite some time.

The Kinect Voice Commands update should be available the next time you boot the game up on your Xbox, and the Dawnguard DLC will be available later this summer.
