Sony Interactive Entertainment has acquired Insomniac Studios, the development team that brought us the recent Marvel’s Spider-Man and of course the Ratchet and Clank series, to name but two.  This is a massive coo for Sony by getting a talented studio to be exclusive to the PlayStation brand, especially with the next-generation of consoles being just around the corner.

With Marvel’s Spider-Man selling over 13.2 million copies worldwide as of July 2019, it will also no doubt ensure that a sequel will be coming to PlayStation, whether that be on PS4 and/or PS5.

Chairman of SIE World Wide Studios, Shawn Layden had this to say on the announcement “We have enjoyed a strong collaborative partnership with the studio for many years, and are thrilled to officially welcome them to the Worldwide Studios family. The addition of Insomniac Games to SIE WWS reiterates our commitment to developing world class gaming experiences that can only be found on the PlayStation platform.

While Ted Price, Founder and CEO of Insomniac Games added “We’ve enjoyed a special relationship with PlayStation practically since our inception. Our partnership amplifies our potential, and Marvel’s Spider-Man was a testament to this. We’re excited to take the next step in our growth alongside our long-time WWS partners.
