Sony Smash Brothers Potentially Leaked

Ever since the advent of opinion children have likely bickered over who could beat up who. Nintendo themselves also wondered this about their franchises and as such made Super Smash Brothers, an extremely entertaining fighting game featuring some of the companies best known creations beating multiple shades out of each other. Two sequels later and its a confirmed success, with fans still playing all three games in the series.

Sony might be looking into trying to replicate this success with its own franchises if a (recently removed) twitter feed belonging to an employee of SuperBot Entertainment is to be believed. Chris Molina is a level designer at the Sony exclusive company, who have officially announced they are working on a PS3 title, but what this title is is still yet to be announced. Tweets from Molina, however, may have given the game away.

The main tweet to take into account states clearly “New Sony Playstation commercial vaguely foreshadowing our soon to be announced title”. Due to the timing this is most likely a reference to the “Michael” commercial, which shows a gathering of some of Sony’s most well known exclusive characters in the same room. More interestingly is the fact that third party characters are also in the advert, some from multi-platform releases, which raises the possibility that this potential ensemble fighting game would be a strictly Sony tournament.

As well as the aformetioned tweet a couple of images were shown, one of an early rendering of an unidentifiable female model, and one that is unmistakeably Sweet Tooth from Twisted Metal.

In the “Michael” advert Sweet Tooth appeared playing chess with a sackboy, so this rumoured fighting game may not in fact be a fighting game, but a chess simulator using recognisable faces each with their own unique pieces. As appealing as an Uncharted chess set sounds, I think Id much rather use a Nathan Drake and Kratos team up to destroy Scholar Visari in hand to hand combat.

With the Spike VGAs just a couple of weeks away an official announcement isn’t out of the question. SuperBot, please don’t let me down.
