Accessory Review: KontrolFreek Destiny CQC Signature Edition

 

KontrolFreek has released their latest special edition performance thumbsticks and they are arguably the most stylish ones yet, at least for fans of the game Destiny with the Destiny CQC Signature Edition.  Players of Destiny will instantly recognise the games logo placed in the middle of the thumbsticks with a glittering silver texture grip which provides it with style that captures the essence of the popular first-person sci-fi shooter.

 

But while these thumbsticks look fantastic, just how well do they perform?  Well I can always hand on heart so that no matter what KontrolFreek thumbstick I choose, I’m an advocate in its quality and I believe that they do help improve performance over the standard analogue sticks (which is why my collection is ever-growing).  Whichever thumbstick you choose, is all down to personal preference, as there are a variety of size and shape, so it’s likely that you will find one that suits you gaming needs.

 

 

First of all, the Destiny thumbsticks not only look great, but they are also among the most comfortable sticks that I own and feel more ‘rubbery’ then other ones that I’ve used prior and offer a great deal of extra grip.  What makes these thumbsticks extra special is that they’ve been created in collaboration with Bungie, who are of course the developers of Destiny.  So these thumbsticks are tailor-made for the game, however, they do work just as well with any other shooter that you might own.

 

In terms of specifications, the Destiny CQC’s have a slightly lower height then some of my other thumbsticks, such as the FPS Snipers for example.  But of course it’s down to the gamer as in individual as to whether they prefer high or lower sticks.  The Destiny CQC’s give you an increased height of up to 7.1mm and has a hybrid convex/concave surface.  Which sounds kind of odd, but it works great.  The grip is improved on furthermore with the tyre-tread outer ridges of the thumbstick, insuring that its incredibly unlikely that your thumbs will ever slip off the analogue sticks, even during the most intense Iron Banner battles.

 

It sounds a little cliché, if you’re an avid Destiny gamer, then the Destiny CQC Signature Editions are a must own have for fans and as already stated, they also work fantastically well with other shooters that you might own.  You should be able to pick up these thumbsticks at most videogame retailers as well as of course direct from KontrolFreek.com.
