FPS Freek S.C.A.R

Available to celebrate the recent announcement of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, KontrolFreek has announced the latest in-line of performance enhancing Thumbsticks with the FSP Freek S.C.A.R.  Now I own several KontrolFreek sticks and the first ones I own were the Black Ops III Thumbsticks and based upon my gaming experience, the S.C.A.R’s are very similar to the ones released for Black Ops III, which is by no means a bad thing.

In fact, the FPS Freek S.C.A.R’s share the same height at 10.4mm, however, instead of having one Thumbstick smaller and the other larger, the S.C.A.R’s are both at the 10.4mm height.  So its personal preference to which combination you prefer, but remember, if you own other KontrolFreek Thumbsticks, you can mix and match to suit your gaming needs.  Again, much like many of the other KF Thumbsticks, it is said that the S.C.A.R’s will increase your range of motion by 136%.

The concave top for me is always my personal preference over the done shaped Thumbsticks, as my thumbs tend to remain more sturdy and comfortable, but again that is personal preference.  I might add as well, that I found the Galaxy concave having too much of a small radius for my thumbs, however, the S.C.A.R’s do seem to have more width to them.

In terms of visual design, I love the Skull logo located in the centre of the Thumbsticks and if you’ve recently picked up the Uncharted 4 inspired Grey/Blue DualShock 4, the colour of the Thumbsticks match the colour scheme almost perfectly.  In my humble opinion, the FPS Freek S.C.A.R Thumbsticks are my favourite sticks yet from KontrolFreek in terms of comfortability and visual design, these are limited edition sticks you certainly should consider picking up before they’re gone.

Final Verdict 9/10

KontrolFreek Grips

Now much like any gaming accessory product that it said to improve your gaming performance, I was a little sceptical about the KontrolFreek Grips before trying them.  However, while I never noticed any improvement on performance, I certainly recognised the added comfort that the KF Grips provided.

Not only do the Grips provide added comfort, but they also do what it says on the tin and that’s providing extra grip, which is more noticeable during lengthy and intense online battles.  I’ve recently tried using a DualShock 4 without the KF Grips and they certainly felt more slippery without them. The reason for this is that the KF Grips are designed with “breathable” materials that helps absorb sweat and the foam cushioning resembles that of memory foam.

If you’ve ever looked at these Grips and pondered the purchase, I would recommend that you pick them up and there’s usually at least a 10% offer on over at KontrolFreek.com (often by signing up to the newsletter).  Having grown accustom to the FPS Grips, there’s no way I’d play without them and I urge you to give them a try.  And if you’re worried that they might mark your controller should you choose to remove them, then fear not, as they are easily removed and with a quick wipe, your controller will look just as they did before, but I doubt you’d have any reason to remove them in the first place.

Final Verdict 8/10
