Accessory Review: KontrolFreek Spaceland Zombies Edition

KF-ZSP-REVIEW-FEATURE

The latest KontrolFreek Thumbsticks are in and to celebrate the recent announcement of Spaceland Zombies, the new Zombies mode in the forthcoming Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, the newest addition to the KF family is in for a ‘glowing’ review (quite literally).

The Spaceland Zombie Edition thumbsticks not only aids your performance in gaming, especially during competitive multiplayer matches, but they also glow in the dark, and they look awesome.  As much as a novelty this feature is, they do actually help when playing during night gaming sessions.  Ok, you have to expose them to a light source for them to actively glow and the whole novelty may soon where off, but the neon-like colouring actually helps them standout in the dark, regardless of whether they are glowing to full potential or not.  But being a natural gamer, you of course already know where the thumbsticks are without even having to look, but it can help somewhat when looking down at quick glance, perhaps during a QTE section in whatever game you’re playing.

KF-ZSP-REVIEW-1

From a technical standpoint, the Spaceland Zombies thumbsticks are of “mid-rise” at 6.1mm in height and are said to increase your range of motion by up to 75%, giving you that extra edge in sharpness in comparison to analogue sticks without the thumbsticks.  On top of that, the concave surface has a soft rubber texture that provides one of the best grips I’ve experienced from KontrolFreek.  The design of the thumbsticks features an image of Angry Mike, a character that stars in Zombie Spaceland and the sticks have been created in collaboration with the folks at Infinity Ward and are said to be ideal for “close-quarters-combat”.

However, I would say that after using them during lengthy gaming sessions, they don’t quite feel as comfortable as the recent Destiny CQC thumbsticks.  But at the end of the day, it’s all down to personal preference and how each particular thumbsticks feels for you.  You can pick the limited edition Spaceland Zombies Edition thumbsticks direct from KontrolFreek or via other retailer outlets.

Final Verdict: 8.5/10
