The Disney Channel knock out another original movie in the form of a sequel to Camp Rock. Its time to see just what this summer brings for our Camp Rockers.

1 year after the first Camp Rock Mitchie, Shane, Nate and Jason return to Camp Rock. Much to their dismay a rival camp called Camp Star has been established by Uncle Brown’s former band mate. After bad relations when Brown threw him out of the band, this modern day Disney version of the devil seeks to destroy Camp Rock by drawing in its various instructors and campers after a campfire jam. In revolt Mitchie (Lovato) draws the campers together to fight back against Camp Star.

My first problem with this movie is the characters we saw in the first film seem to have just disappeared. There was a lot of believability within the first film because the characters The Jonas Brothers portrayed were somewhat different from themselves. But now when referring to the characters I don’t refer to Shane as Shane, I refer to him as Joe Jonas.

However despite this problem something stirred inside me with this movie. It is quite frankly beautiful. Now you may be questioning, how can a Disney Channel movie with a demographic of 7-12 year olds be in any way beautiful? There is a simple answer. This movie creates a romantic atmosphere the likes of which I am genuinely comparing to the titanic. The overtones are quite beautiful with situations that can be related to the everyday person. For instance there is a quite beautiful scene by a lake in which Nick is pulled out of the water by his love interest Deana (Chloe Bridges). They begin to talk about growing up and the point is raised about what they wanted to be. Deana then responds with some form of comment that points out that he always became what he wanted. When her father comes to inspect on what’s going on, Nate (Nick J) hides in a canoe. He then says something resembling ‘I wish I could be the guy who tells you how he feels’, which quite frankly had me beaming from ear to ear with a heart full of love. The movie just has this immense aura of good feelings which are projected onto its viewers.

Of course for fans of The Jonas Brothers there are little jokes that make us chuckle away. For instance when Jason (Kevin J) is instructing the younger campers he asks them what they want to do in a band set up. When he asks about a lead singer a child raises his hand. On this Jason says ‘okay first you need tighter pants and learn to play the tambourine’ in a jokey fashion. Shane (Joe J) then walks past and yells back ‘I heard that’ which is a personal joke for the fans as it is known that Joe wears very tight jeans and plays the tambourine for the band.

The soundtrack is very well thought out. Every song conveys emotions that leave the viewer somewhat speechless. They are catchy as well so you feel the need to sing along. There’s some hip-hop, acoustic and pop rock in the mix which should satisfy a wider range of audiences.

In the end of the day Disney’s demographic missed the mark here. This movie is meant for Disney Channel viewers but its more like a clean teen movie. No sex, no drugs and a tiny bit of rock and roll but mainly an emotional rollercoaster with fantastic over tones of awesome and a massive sense to believe in who you are.
