Reviewed: Sonic The Hedgehog (1, 2, 3, and Knuckles)

Originally I wanted to do this before I reviewed Sonic 4 Episode 1, but better late than never. This review was so huge that it wouldn’t let me upload the whole video and instead I had to put it into two parts. The first part covers Sonic 1 and Sonic 2. The second part covers Sonic 3, Sonic and Knuckles, and the scores. The only thing missing is the bonus ending which should be uploaded on my youtube channel, I’d apologize for that but really I’m not the one who made those limitations.

Sonic The Hedgehog:

Pros: Great platforming, Introduces concept of speed, memorable levels and soundtrack, it’s a classic nuff said.

Cons: Boss fights are easy, some levels kill the sense of speed.

Sonic The Hedgehog 2:

Pros: Spin Dash, Have a second person play as Tails, Even faster, More levels and more speed, Fantastic soundtrack, Collecting all the Chaos Emeralds turns you into Super Sonic.

Cons: Boss fights are even more easier than the first one.

Part 2:

Sonic The Hedgehog 3:

Pros: Each character has their own abilities, Elemental shields are AWESOME, Nice maze-like bonus stage, Transitions between zones, You can save the game.

Cons: I felt that the levels were easy and there weren’t as many of them as the previous games, The save system in this one felt a bit unnecessary, I’m not a fan of the whole soundtrack, Too many gimmicks such as the spinner, Sometimes it feels like the levels play themselves.

Sonic and Knuckles:

Pros: Levels are more challenging than Sonic 3, Two different endings, Knuckles adds a lot of exploration to the game, Can be played with other Sonic games for special bonuses.

Cons: On it’s own it’s just as short as Sonic 3, Most bosses are still pretty easy, SANDOPOLIS ACT 2.
