Metal Gear Rising: Revengance clearly deals with trouble in a way we haven’t been previously used to. The E3 exclusive trailer below shows the extent and clear focus on the hack and slash attributes that Raiden possesses. It seems to reflect a style more familiar to Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden which obviously strips away the typical and incredibly stealthy gameplay fans of the series are used to.

Now at E3 2012, a seven minute Demo has been brought to our attention that shows us the true intentions of Raiden and his blade. It details Raiden performing various deadly moves on enemies that haven’t noticed him yet, so if we can call that sneaking around or something we are more accustomed to with the Metal Gear series then great.

It is mentioned and shown constantly that the sword you wield can be used to cut freely, you choose the slice and angle whilst the blade does the rest of the work. The sword is not only useful for enemies but is incredibly useful in regards to the environment. For example a structure that has support beams, if you cut those beams the structure falls over and could result in multiple kills without having to encounter anyone. The different style of this game in regards to other Metal Gear titles is partially down to Platinum Games who are responsible for the combo’s and general sword combat. The demo gives a real insight into the mechanics of the game and what to expect, opinions at the ready.
