Only recently has Nintendo announced the new version of the 3DS which basically consists of a bigger screen, click here for details on that. Japanese video game magazine Famitsu has revealed in their latest issue that the 3DS XL will be getting a secondary circle pad as an accessory, which will come with a second slider and two additional shoulder buttons.

Unfortunately there are no images at this present time, but keep checking back here when images will be released. The big question for me though, is why not include a built in second circle pad for the 3DS XL? The 3DS already has a suitable screen that gives crisp clear visuals, so why would Nintendo feel that making a bigger screen was the next best step for the future of the 3DS?

We already know that the biggest issue that most people had with the 3DS is that it didn’t have a second circle pad, and if I’m not mistaken thats why Nintendo released a cradle that had one fitted on. Could this just be a money scheme? It doesn’t really fit Nintendo’s agenda so this is a very stance design on their behalf.
