Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate 3DS Confirmed

The rumours have been spreading around for the past couple of weeks but now it seems like the next Castlevania game, Lords of the Shadow – Mirror of Fate, has been officially announced in the latest issue of Nintendo Power Magazine.

The game will star Trevor Belmont, who made his debut in the 1992 NES game Castlevania: Dracula’s Curse. He has also appeared in the beat ’em up spin-off, Castlevania Judgement. You will be controlling Trevor Belmont as you battle opponents using weapons and magic alike.

The story is supposedly set 25 years after Lords of Shadow, with Belmont attempting to stop Dracula once again. The game plays in the same way as Super Mario 3D Land, however you can actually explore your surroundings unlike Super Mario 3D Land, bringing you out of the linear zone. Other characters are also available to play, as you will be playing across different time periods. Simon Belmont and Trev’s descendants, as well as two un-named characters are all available to play as during the game. As you travel through Dracula’s Castle and switch between time periods, you will see that the castle and surroundings will be different, to correspond with the game’s story.

The Vampire Killer whip is back as well as summoning mystical guardians, which fight for and protect Simon. Throwing axes may be included as well as burning oil being used. Trevor has his Combat Pass making a return as well as his secondary weapon’s, which includes an electric bomb.

SpotPass and StreetPass are available for the game, as it has been confirmed and there are other 3DS features, such as drawing notes on the touchscreen.

Keep listening for more information from Konami at their pre-E3 press conference on May 31st, this may be a game to look out for on the 3DS!
