Nintendo DS Games Coming To Wii U Virtual Console

No, not satire, Nintendo has announced that games from its best ever selling system, the Nintendo DS, will be making their way to the Virtual Console on the Wii U’s eShop. No plans were mentioned for the logical 3DS eShop, but we can only hope.

 

While going through future plans for the Wii U at Nintendo’s investor’s briefing, Satoru Iwata mentioned that DS games would be making their way to the Wii U eShop. Iwata mentioned that they have overcome whatever was preventing them from previously releasing the games on the digital store. The example shown is Brain Training, one of the best selling titles on the DS, shown in “book mode“. It’s unknown how many games will be available at launch, or what titles they will be, or who from. More information is expected to come from an inevitable Nintendo Direct.
