On Sunday the 26th of February, Junichi Masuda, a video game composer, director, designer, producer, and programmer at Game Freak, announced the sequels to Pokemon Black and White on the popular Japanese television show Pokemon Smash.

Not much is known about Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 (yes that’s actually what they’re called) but what is known are rough release dates for Japan, North America and Europe. As with all other Pokemon titles, Japan will be the first to receive this new Pokemon game, with the release date set for some time in June this year. The game will hit North America and Europe in Autumn (Fall).

Along with this announcement, there has been an interesting revelation. This next batch of Pokemon games will be available for the Nintendo DS and not the 3DS like everyone predicted. Of course, you would still be able to play Pokemon Black 2 or Pokemon White 2 on your 3DS but you would be restricted to 2D only. A short teaser trailer has also been released.

If you look at the images below, you’ll get a first look at new character art of Black Kyurem and White Kyurem, the new Legendary Pokemon.
