Grease is the… Game?

What feels like an eternity after Grease first danced onto the silver screen and suddenly somebody comes up with the great idea of making a video game tie-in. Oh no…

Grease: The Game is heading to the Wii later on this year, the core of this will is a Story Mode where players can fix up Greased Lightning or attempt to woo Sandy with 16 of the movie’s most memorable songs, including a selection of choreographed dance numbers. The Wii version comes with a pair of USB Nintendo compatible microphones – perfect for the duets– and even works with the Wii Fit Balance Board (not sure quite how that will work…) Meanwhile the DSi version of the game (coming out at the same time) features only 10 songs but as some form of compensation is allows the user to superimpose pictures of themselves onto their favourite characters.

Also put into this Wii game is a Party Mode; this supports eight players in two teams as they compete for musical supremacy, and involves a series of interactive mini games based on scenes from the film, a singalong selection and the chance to shake your thing with Kenickie, Rizzo and the rest of the crew at the Graduation carnival.

Grease: The Game launches on Wii, DS and DSi this September, and has (although something I wouldn’t touch with a barge pole) has got PARTY IN A BOX written all over it for any die hard fans…
