TMNT Game Based On Nickelodeon TV Show ‘Will Not’ Be Coming To PS3!

Earlier in the week you may have read the announcement regarding a second Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game arriving later this year, which will be based on the popular Nickelodeon TV series. Even with the downloadable title Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows also arriving this year, the one based upon the new TV show was the one that I personally could not wait for.

But as I read the press release, I had noticed something strange. The Nickelodeon TV based video game was set for release on the Xbox 360, Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Wii. But there was no information that detailed that it would also be released on the Playstation 3 and Wii U. With the game being released on both a Microsoft and Nintendo system, this clearly is not a one console exclusive game. Considering that the publishers Activision release games on almost every console known to man and are one of the leading giants in the industry, I could not quite understand why it appeared that this game would not be coming to the PS3 and Wii U.

So to dig deep further into this matter and to try and get a better understanding of this odd decision, a close friend and reliable source took it upon himself to see what he could dig up. So my friend emailed the developers of the Nickelodeon based TMNT game; Magic Pockets to enquire on whether there will be a PS3 release and the response he got was quite interesting.

Here’s what Magic Pockets said in regards to the Nickelodeon TMNT game not coming to the PS3 and presumably the Wii U:

Hi,

Our side (developer part) we do the best that meets the wishes of Activision.

Activision does not require a Sony version of this game, we don’t know why.

So there you have it, for whatever Activision’s reasons may be, it looks like this particular TMNT game unfortunately will not be coming to the Playstation 3 (and presumably the Wii U). But let’s hope that Activision have a change of heart, because I know there will be a lot of disappointed fans (myself included) wanting to play this game.  The Nickelodeon TMNT game will be released on October 23rd for North America and then the 25th across Europe for the Nintendo 3DS, Wii and Xbox 360.

TMNT: Out of the Shadows will be released via Steam and XBLA on August 28th and then September 24th on PSN.
