Those guys over at Xbox.com really can’t catch a break. After possibly revealing co-op for Resident Evil 6 via their product information page, it looks like Assassin’s Creed III may be getting the same treatment.

While the product page currently lists ‘Online Multiplayer – 2-8 Players’, eagle eyed gamers spotted a listing for ‘Online Co-Op – 2-4’ before it mysteriously disappeared earlier this morning. It’s great to know at least that it looks like the competitive multiplayer from Brotherhood and Revelations will be making a return, but I am really hoping more comes of this Online Co-Op possibility.

No other details were spotted, so it’s unclear whether these would be specific side missions a little like the Spec Ops mode from Modern Warfare 2, or a more open world experience seen in other titles such as Grand Theft Auto IV or Red Dead Redemption, especially after Ubisoft has detailed the countryside setting for their latest in the series.

If anything, we’ll be hearing more at Ubisoft’s E3 2012 Press Conference in June this year, along with more details on Rainbow Six: Patriots and possibly the next Splinter Cell title. Who knows, maybe we’ll all finally be playing Ghost Recon: Future Soldier by then as well!

In case you missed it, here’s the Announcement Trailer for Assassin’s Creed III
