Super Mario To Be a Wii U Launch Title

Shigeru Miyamoto has confirmed in an interview that the Wii U will have a Super Mario game as a launch title.

While it would be easy to think that it is an obvious choice for a Super Mario title to be a launch title for Nintendo’s new console Wii U, we must not forget that this has not been the case for Nintendo’s previous two consoles, Nintendo Wii and Gamecube.

This time however, Shigeru Miyamoto himself has confirmed that at E3, we will see the announcement of a new Super Mario game for the Wii U. Rumour is that it could be Super Mario World 4. El Mundo, a Spanish language website, is where Miyamoto spilled the beans, with the Neogaf forum deciphering and finding out the news.

In regards to the interview Miyamoto had with El Mundo, he says that Nintendo will be focusing on creating new types of gaming experiences, “training up a new generation of devs who will be capable of taking over from Miyamoto when he retires.” and is helping out on Pikmin 3 and Luigi’s Mansion 2 while thinking about going back to the Wii Music franchise.

Personally, I hope Miyamoto gets heavily involved with the new Super Mario game. Do you agree or do you think it’s time Miyamoto game an up-and-coming designer a chance to run with it?
