MyPARK & The Stage Modes Unveiled For NBA 2K15
2K Sports have today revealed that NBA 2K15 will feature MyPARK, which is an enhanced version of an existing feature, and The Stage. Both game modes will see each player using their MyPLAYER to pit their wits against fellow players online, but one game mode in particular could prove to be costly for those whose bark is worse than their bite.
The Stage sees your MyPLAYER and teammates putting their virtual coins (VC) on the line as it’s a winner take all in this new game mode, which is exclusive to Sony consoles for the first 30 days. In addition to being exclusive, the Sony versions of NBA 2K15 will also have the highest stakes of VC available to place on a game at any one time. This game mode was revealed via high-profile NBA 2K player Chris Smoove’s YouTube channel and while you get 10,000 VC to begin with, you can also receive 5,000 extra when you pre-order the game. While The Stage is brand-new to the series, NBA 2K15 sees the return of a favourite game-mode for many over the past few years, albeit with a twist.
Blacktop was a popular online mode which would place your player into a random team of three or your friends and you would play a game of 3v3 and this provided a real feeling of street basketball, which is adored by so many people. In NBA 2K15 however, MyPARK offers players the chance to play in an environment where they will receive a boost to certain attributes.
Going by what the latest trailer described, there are three teams any player can choose from in MyPARK mode: Old Town Flyers, Rivet City Rough Riders and Sunset Beach Ballers. The Old Town team will see players receiving stat boosts on playmaking & defending attributes, Rivet City sees athletic and rebounding being developed and the Sunset team will see players progressing the outside and inside shooting attributes. In addition to the street courts being used to host MyPARK games, there is now the Jordan Rec Center: a hardwood arena which gives players the chance to play in a high-end court.
It seems as though that 2K Sports have learned from their previous success with the MyPLAYER game mode and there is a key focus on your player this time. Blacktop was always an enjoyable experience to play online with random players because the style of gameplay meant that everyone had to work as a team and it looks as though MyPARK is taking this a step further. The Stage will prove popular with those players who believe that they are amongst the game’s elite and will prove to be entertaining to watch on YouTube, similarly to FIFA videos who put cards on the line in Ultimate Team and The Stage could be a great spectacle online.
NBA 2K15 will release for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on October 7th.
