In a recent report from the tech website, Reg Hardware, Sony is currently developing a visual redesign of the PlayStation Network.

The website alleges that Sony is market-testing a new design for the online service, after many PSN users have commented on the PSN being far too text heavy. With this said; the reports say that Sony is aiming for a more image-driven layout, along the lines of Xbox LIVE and Steam.

Also, if these rumours are to be believed, the revamp of the PSN will be a lot more than a new, more aesthetically pleasing layout, as it will include other ways of using the online service, including; a live search method with results appearing as users enter characters rather than head off to a separate text-entry page, and the movies section being rebuilt as an IMDB-style database, with the same exploration approach taken with games also, categorised by genre, publisher etc.

It is also apparent that Sony will be getting rid of the blue wave themed skin and will opt for “ultra bright colours on a black background”.

There are no more details on such reports at the moment; Push-Start will keep you updated.
