Rumours have been blown out of the water, regarding Sony starting an “Online Pass” program. It is now confirmed that such rumours are in fact true, titled the “PSN Pass”.

What this means is that any upcoming titles, which will be part of the new network pass program, will include a code, which grants users full access to all the online features of the title. And much like redeem codes, once it’s used, the code is useless.

Sony announced that the Sci-fi FPS, Resistance 3, will be the title to debut the program:

“Starting with Resistance 3 this September, we will be instituting a network pass program for PS3 games with online capabilities.”

Many have seen this PSN Pass feature as a way of combating the rapid increase in used game sales. With that said, it would be likely that customers can purchase a brand new code, whenever purchasing a second-hand copy of a title that includes the PSN Pass feature.

No other future release has been confirmed to include the PSN Pass. But our money is on Uncharted 3 and Twisted Metal being part of it, as two other hugely anticipated PS3 exclusives with big online features, including competitive multiplayer.

Sony has not detailed what will be part of the locked content, or how much the codes will cost. But Push-Start will keep you updated on anything regarding this article.
