Over the last year or so, we have all been blessed with upscaled revivals of some of our favourite Playstation classics; God of War 1 and 2, the Prince of Persia trilogy, Tomb Raider and the Sly trilogy. And let’s not forget the upcoming HD reboots of Beyond Good and Evil, Resident Evil 4 and Code Veronica X. But now, the critically acclaimed Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell trilogy will now emerge onto the Playstation 3, only adding to the list of impressive PS2 to PS3 ports.

The stealth-em-up trilogy will contain the original Splinter Cell (released back in 2002), as well as its two sequel’s; Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory. As expected, all three titles will come together on one blu-ray disc. Each title will also support Playstation Trophies, and will all be in glorious high definition. However, what is less expected is that they are not ported from the Playstation 2, but rather from the PC versions. Ubisoft’s Alex Monney stated that they did this to provide the best quality of the three Splinter Cell games, providing more “content and detail”. It has also been announced that any gamers that have a compatible television, can play the whole trilogy in stereoscopic 3D.

The only problem with the upcoming HD trilogy at the moment is the absence of the multiplayer modes that were originally available for Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, as confirmed by Monney.

Although you can get your hands on the Splinter Cell trilogy as a one disc blu-ray bundle in the shops, you can alternatively download each individual title via the Playstation Store, once they are released.

A release date of the Splinter Cell Trilogy is yet to be announced, but according to the information on the Playstation Blog, we may see a release in June of this year.
