Guitar Hero and Rock Band took the gaming world by storm back in the day, thousands of people taking to the plastic instruments to play along with their favourite songs on the guitar, bass, drums, keyboard (Rock Band 3) and singing. Unfortunately it eventually grew stale and the developers decided not to make any more titles. Since then the guitar playing games have grown to be more realistic, trying to teach you to play the instrument off the screen as well as in the game.

Realta Entertainment Group has announced that Bandfuse: Rock Legends will be the latest game that will aim to try and teach you how to play the songs as the artist intended, instead of focusing on the 5 plastic buttons that some of us are so used to. Bandfuse will let you connect your real guitar (if you have one), bass and microphones to your games console to allow you to play along to a fully unlocked library of songs from all sorts of genres (The press release states ‘Rock to metal and punk to funk’). Featuring bands and famous musicians such as: Slash, Maroon 5, Rush, The Strokes, Heart, Pearl Jam and more. You will be able to play Bandfuse in a 4 player co-op mode which gives you the opportunity to connect two guitars, one bass and a microphone.

Bandfuse is due for release on November 19 2013 in North America with a date for Europe and Japan still to be announced. It will be available on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, there is no mention if it will be heading to next-gen consoles. It will launch with (so far) 3 different bundles for you to pick from, depending on what you have already:

  • The Artist Pack ($69.99 MSRP) includes the BandFuse: Rock Legends game and 1/4” to USB guitar cable (Xbox 360 also contains an Audio Adapter and headphone extension cable).
  • The Band Pack($79.99 MSRP) includes two guitar cables, a microphone, multi-port instrument hub, and an acoustic guitar adapter.
  • The Guitar Bundle includes the BandFuse: Rock Legends game, guitar cable, and authentic Fender Squier guitar (MSRP to be announced at a future date).

You can check out the screenshots below (from the press release). From the looks of the images, during single player you are treated to the music video for the song as you are playing. Although you might not get time to watch it as you will be trying to work out where your fingers are!! Not sure about you, but I think I would miss my own created character bouncing around and playing the fake guitar. Are you excited about Bandfuse: Rock legends or would you rather Guitar Hero made a come back? let us know in the comments!!
