EA’s newest football (or soccer) game, 2010 FIFA World Cup, will be hitting European stores April 27th, but for those of you who can’t wait that long, here’s a little bit of information about it to keep you interested.

Teams

For legal reasons, not every team that attempted to qualify for the world cup can be included – 5 are left out – but that leaves you with 199 teams to play with, attempt to qualify for the World Cup or plain outright win it. This is good after a fairly disappointing showing of international teams on both FIFA09 and FIFA10, where even home nations (Wales) were left off the game.

Online

EA say that you will be able to compete in an online based World Cup, where you represent your chosen country and take them to World Cup glory. If this doesn’t float your boat, then maybe the other online feature will. Play as your home nation, and every result and performance is rated and recorded, with one country ending up as World champions!

Features

Detail has always been a huge deal with the guys at EA, and the screen shots for 2010 FIFA World Cup appear to show the same commitment. Special attention has been paid to the crowd, with crowd graphics never really being amazing before on any FIFA game. Also available are all 10 of the official World Cup stadiums, and special attention has been given to the impact that altitude will have because of the variation that will be on show in South Africa. Represent a country used to playing at a higher altitude and they will perform better at the stadiums at a higher altitude – crazy detail that has rarely been seen in any sports game before, and may be revolutionary for FIFA’s to come.
