Those who have had the chance to preview the new Xbox 360 Dashboard will have likely bragged about it to their friends, especially as they have had the chance to play with the new features before anyone else.

Today Microsoft announced that the new Dashboard experience will be launching for Xbox 360’s globally on the 6th December 2011!

This Dashboard update (or overhaul…at least visually) brings new experiences including cloud saves, an entirely new interface titled ‘Metro’, bringing it more inline with the new visual look seen on Windows Phone 7 and the next major release of Windows. It will also feature much improved integration with Kinect as the new dashboard can almost entirely be navigated by voice and hand gestures, including browsing the marketplace and using the new Bing search tool to find anything on Xbox Live.

While change can be an unerving experience for some, especially when it comes to their gaming machines, changes and updates seen for the Xbox 360 Dashboard have been for the better. Overall, changes to the Xbox 360 Dashbaord are great once you have time to adjust to where everything has moved to, and in general, gives us something fresh, something new, and something to talk to our friends about!

In all honesty, this latest 360 Dashboard update isn’t Microsoft’s greatest work. Personally I preferred the previous iteration. For new users I think it could become confusing and difficult to use, for old hands the new dash shouldn’t be too hard to use. Its clear that the latest design is targeted at Kinect users so I think it leaves non-Kinect adopters are left short changed.
