Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the shopping mall, Capcom announce that Dead Rising 2: Case Zero will be released on August 31st exclusively to Xbox Live Arcade for just 400MPs

Case Zero acts a prologue for Dead Rising 2, allowing the player to get a glimpse of the main character Chuck Greene.  Who you will be able to take full control of come 27th September for N. America, Japan  September 30th, and finally Europe and Australia come October 1st.

Case Zero is set two years after the Willamette incident which took place in the original Dead Rising, and three years before Dead Rising 2.  Chuck and his infected daughter Katey find themselves in your typical zombie infested deserted town of Still Creek.  Chuck has 2 priorities in mind, to find a way out of this town and to find the cure Zombrex that Katey needs to prevent her from joining the undead.

The battle system in Case Zero will be the same as it will be come Dead Rising 2.  Chuck has a roll of duct tape and his handyman skills in which he will use to create a vast array of combo weapons. These combo weapons will help Chuck earn more “prestige points” while making killing zombies more creative and fun.  Which in turn will help Chuck level up quicker.

The good news for players who decide to download Case Zero will be able to transfer over their well earned attributes over to Dead Rising 2.  This includes Play Points, upto a maximum of 5 Prestige Points,  and a number of alternative outfits for Chuck.
Capcom released the following statement ;

“With Dead Rising 2: CASE ZERO we had two goals: provide newcomers with an easy point of entry to the Dead Rising universe, and give fans of the series an insight into what took place after Frank West survived the outbreak at the Willamette Mall,” said Keiji Inafune, Capcom’s Head of R&D Management Group and Executive Producer for Dead Rising 2. “We have certainly achieved both of these ambitions but I am equally pleased that we are able to give gamers so much unique and entertaining content at such a great price.”

So what are you doing reading this? There are zombies afoot!
