Gears Of War 3 RPG?

Don’t worry, Gears 3 hasn’t truly gone RPG, but news from Epic Games lead designer Cliff Blezinski is that the game will indeed incorporate some RGP like aspects in the campaign.

The word straight from Cliff Blezinskis’s mouth is that we will see a little more RPG like elements in the next Gears title that are very light. He then explained how that type of and I quote “Cross Pollination” genre of games will continue the type of games our audience will be playing in the future. Cliff then went on to say…

“I’ve gone on record before, and I said the future of shooters are RPGs, and the shooters that I’ve liked the most lately are ones like BioShock, which had some light RPG elements, as well as Borderlands, which I continue to gush about, which is partly because its our engine.”

“Moving on from there, game developers have a way of cross-pollinating an immense amount. Gears was influenced by Resident Evil, then Resident Evil 5 was influenced by Gears. So, maybe you’ll see elements from more RPGs, or Heavy Rain narrative style elements, start bleeding into the genre.”

The scheduled date of release is still April 2011, so we will be waiting to get a hold of this hybrid like game until then.
