It seems users on Reddit have unveiled a XML file on Rockstar’s servers which suggest microtransactons which allows users to purchase in-game currency and could be a feature in the upcoming GTA Online.

These purchases seem to include $100k, $200k, $500k and $1.25m money cards as well as the statement:

Cash is king in this town. Solve your money problems and help get what you want across Los Santos and Blaine County with the purchase of cash packs for Grand Theft Auto Online. All purchased cash is automatically deposited into your character’s bank account. Spend wisely, cash therapy is fleeting.

Thought these images could simply be junk images leftover from a unused feature.

Microtransactions have become increasingly popular since mobile gaming took off, although it has often been criticised when featured in home console released. If this is true, then there are genuine worries players have. In GTA Online you can steal cash from other players, so if they’ve bought it using this system then isn’t that genuine theft?

I have no worries with microtransactions when I am not forced to use them and, in the case of an online game and others who have used them do not get a ridiculous advantage therefore spoiling my experience.

GTA Online goes live on October 1st.
