IO Interactive To Present Crowd-Technology At GDC 2012

G2-Crowd Technolgy, featured in IO Interactive’s new game engine: Glacier 2, was tailored to meet the ever heightening demands of the developers to enable them realize their vision for Hitman: Absolution. One key requirement Absolution features is very dense crowds that work to allow players to both interact with and influence the behavior of each individual character.

IO Interactives lead physics programmer; Kasper Fauerby, will be introducing the innovative technology behind Hitman: Absolution at this years Game Developers Conference in San Francsico. Fauerby will be outlining the techniques and optimizations used to achieve the 1200 character crowds present in Absolution while still running at 30fps on current-gen consoles. He will also provide an overview of the crowd implementation and discuss both the algorithms used as well as how gameplay considerations affected the design decisions.
