On a mild Friday morning in mid-march, a few members of the Push-Start team travelled to downtown London where they took part and fell into the exclusive world of Lost Planet 2.

The event took place in what is usually a nightclub in an arch of a overground train track near London Bridge. We went into the event to find a venue decked out with oil-drum style cannisters, camouflage, sheet metal and the Lost Planet 2 icon printed on everything, everywhere. Leo Tan, Capcom’s UK PR Manager, introduced us to the event and led us into a room with 32 xboxs, 32 flat screen Tvs, a DJ and a whole lot more Lost Planet 2 decoration. 2 sets of 8 vs. 8 system link on the new Lost Planet 2 was laid out in front of us and everyone wasted no time in getting down to the game. A DJ entertained the already buzzing venue with one of the Tv’s gamplay hooked up to the projector. In the next room was access to the 4 player co-op aspect of the game which gave an insight into the campaign of the game. Throughout the day, we were well looked after with free food, a free bar and endless hours of multiplayer fun!

So, enough about how much we enjoyed ourselves! Allow me to get onto the core information about the game. From what we were shown, the following modes are confirmed to be available:

-          4 player co-op

-          Training mode

-          Offline 2 player split-screen

–          Elimination (Also a team mode version)

–          Team Deathmatch

–          Post Grab

Training Mode is a way for beginners to the game to learn about the game and go through a series of tutorials to help with their understanding and gameplay.

The following characters have also been confirmed for launch:

– Frank West

– Marcus Fenix

– Dominic Santiago

– Albert Wesker

All characters above will be featured in the game with their original costumes and look. Frank West will indeed be kitted up with his trademark teddy bear backpack and leather jacket! It has also been confirmed that the game will have 16 episodes!

Lost Planet 2 is set approximately 10 years after the original one. Wayne does not make an appearance on this sequel but it was mentioned that he may make an appearance in future titles. It was announced that achievements for both single and multiplayer are available so both modes of the game have to be explored!

Customization took up a lengthy part of the presentation so we are assuming that this is an aspect of the game that the creators are quite happy with. Some new customizations as well as old ones are available, additionally with the option of selecting female characters and relative equipment. The confirmed aspects which can be customized are the look of your characters including headgear, torso and legs customization, weapons including a newly introduced protective shield, radar which reveals your enemy’s location to your team players and your grenades including dummy and health grenades. The dummy grenade acts as a fake person to throw off a player which blows up when shot. A health grenade creates a revitalizing orb when thrown which when stepped into, heals your health. The last customization aspect revealed to us was the choice of taunting actions. There are absolutely hundreds of these, all varying from each other. These look like they can be a bit of a laugh to play with!

After the presentation of customization aspects, episode 4 of the game was revealed to us as well as a difficult boss further on in the game. The production team were confident of success and opted for a higher difficulty than easy. This embarrassingly concluded in a ‘Mission Failed’ which was clapped and cheered by the crowd. In the episode we were shown, the objective was to capture the native HQ points.
