Minecraft Split Screen Problems

It was only a few days ago that arguably one of the biggest XBLA titles Minecraft was released, and even though it has gone on to break the Xbox live sales record, it’s not all rosey in the world of cubes.

Kotaku now reports that some players are unable to use the split-screen mode as a HD TV is required. This feature is one of the biggest selling point of the XBLA version and something the PC version does not have. There is no prompt of this requirement when buying the game, so the only way players found out was when they started playing the game.

This issue must have come up in testing, and since there’s even an onscreen prompt when in the game, it’s likely that Microsoft clearly knew of this and it was a crafty move not to tell the public about this. Microsoft are also denying refunds to the players who bought the game without the knowledge of this requirement.

Mincecraft is available to download now for 1600 Microsoft points.

Do you think this was a a bad descion on part of Microsoft? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
