Season 2 of Lego Dimensions announced, new story campaign, Sonic, Gremlins & more!

LEGO Dimensions

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and TT Games has announced that the second season of Lego Dimensions will launch September 30th this year.  The new line-up will include an all-new story campaign which will follow on from the Lord Vortech tale from the original game and it will include a new Toy Pad base.

The Story Pack (or new Starter Pack if you will), will be based upon the forthcoming Ghostbuster reboot and will feature the new Ecto-1, an Abbey Yates mini-figure and Zhu’s Chinese Restaurant as the Toy Pad/Gateway base, a location that features in the movie.  The new campaign will also feature six puzzle based missions, with obviously the potential to expand with level packs to release at a later date.

Interestingly the new season of Lego Dimensions will also carry a new four-player competitive Battle Arena, so it will be interesting to see how that all works come release.  Each Battle Arena will have four gameplay modes with their own unique set-up and it will be playable with up to four players locally, there seems to be no word of online multiplayer at this time.

In addition to the new Story Pack, the second season of Lego Dimensions will bring 16 new properties, with an impressive line-up of franchises.  The new packs will include the likes of Adventure Time and Mission Impossible Level Pack, Harry Potter and Adventure Time Team Packs and The A-Team Fun Pack.  In addition, later licensed packs include The Goonies, Sonic the Hedgehog, Teen Titans Go! Lego City Undercover, Knight Rider, The Powerpuff Girls, Gremlins, Beetlejuice and E.T!  Now I have to say, that’s one meaty line-up of licenses.  All we need for Warner Bros. now are Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Transformers and Marvel related toy sets.

All the new Lego Dimensions packs will be releasing from September 30th, and will be compatible with the original packs and they will release for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Wii U.
