EA’s skateboarding series, imaginatively titled Skate, has set a release date for the latest instalment to the series, Skate 3. The title will be in stores on May 14th in the UK, so keep that date in mind!

There will be a number of new features in the game, including the Create-a-park which allows players to build their own area to skate in. Three new game modes have been added – the 1-Up mode, where you have to beat the other team’s score in a time limit, the Domination mode where players have to own as many spots as possible in a time limit, and finally the Own the Lot mode, where players will have a number of tasks to complete in a time limit. New tricks are on the agenda as well, as you may have read in our archives earlier on. Added to Rodney Mullen’s Darkslide are the Underflip and dropping into ramps.

Another new feature is the city that you skate in. Gone is the skater-unfriendly scenes where security guards chased you and pedestrians shook their fists at you. Now, security guards are happy to point you in the direction of the next spot to skate in, and pedestrians are in awe of your skating ability. Looks like its going to be good! Check out some screenshots and some of the earlier screenshots as well to get you in the mood!

We’ve also got a little insight from the makers as to some of the aspects of the game, including a cameo appearance from professional skate boarder and actor, Jason Lee himself.
