Grasshopper Manufacture, fronted by the infamous Suda51, have released a trailer of their upcoming slash-em-up, Killer Is Dead. Seemingly following in the footsteps of No More Heroes, this story of “Love And Execution” chronicles the life of Mondo Zappa – a name so 90s it has to be a joke. And knowing Grasshopper, it will be.

The game is not yet announced for the West, but given that the trailer is covered in English subtitles I wouldn’t think all is lost just yet. The trailer shows off some stylish-looking gameplay with the master executioner Mondo cutting through enemies like butter and squaring up to fellow assassins, some of whom want to die by Mondo’s hand. It also demonstrates an updated version of the previous assassin game’s look, with No More Heroes‘ shaded style being refined to look sumptuous on current-gen consoles. It also shows off his cybernetic hand, which Suda says can be fitted with all kinds of weapons throughout the course of the game such as drills and guns.

Ending in the manner of a TV show, with the main character introducing himself to the audience and teasing the next episode, Grasshopper show that their sense of humour remains, and despite this main character looking altogether more serious in his suited spy garb, their unique little touches will still be there.

Enjoy the trailer below.
