Does Batman’s The Joker ever really die?

Just like the ambiguity in the movie The Dark Knight, the game Arkham Asylum 2 is teasing that it might be the Joker’s final act. The part was voiced by actor Mark Hamill, who says My answer to [developers Rocksteady] for the sequel was, ‘Guys, we’re never going to be able to top the original.’ It was so claustrophobic. There were so many abilities like the stealth mode, and all those things you can do with the new technology. I wanted to be able to say I’d gone out on a high note." Rocksteady managed to talk him around in the end, but he goes on to say: "This will be my last, there’s no question about that. But it’s the last hurrah." And the trailer shows the Joker looking like he’s on his last legs, so for this spectacular limb of the Batman franchise, it looks like he might be done opening the door for . . . any other Batman baddies, the possibilities are endless.

More bad news?

It has been said that Warner is planning to hold back Batman Arkham Asylum 2‘s release date until 2011. This news will no doubt devastate fans of the BAFTA winning original, I know it was to me, with many gamers believing it would have a pre-Christmas release. Since then Warner Bros has bought a controlling share in developer Rocksteady. Annoying, yes: But it’s a tactic which has worked very nicely for the likes of God Of War 3 and Heavy Rain this year.
It has been said; "We haven’t announced a release date for the sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum yet." So there is neither a confirmation or a denial either. I hope more to be revealed at E3.
