Following the untimely demise of THQ, one of its biggest and prestigious licenses was picked up by 2K Games, giving them the right to take over the WWE videogaming helm.  But as enjoyable as WWE 2K14 was (and you can read our review HERE), there was no time for 2K to develop their own stamp into the franchise.

So this brings us on to WWE 2K15 and now that around a year has passed since 2K acquired the license, judging by the information available in this article, 2K Games are making big strides into truly turning the game into their own.  For example already 90% of the WWE roster has been scanned and it is reported that massive improvements have been made regarding characters hair, skin, faces, ring gear and general likeness.

Character animations have also been vastly improved, in which the new motion capture has five times over the animations that featured in WWE 2K14.  If you look at 2K’s other projects such as the more recent NBA series, then you will know the kind of realism that can be achieved by their talented team of developers.

WWE2K15 Hulk Hogan

One of the many criticisms with the WWE games, especially when considering the real-life WWE roster has a fast turnover of talent; this has resulted in many WWE games becoming outdated very quickly in terms of the in-game roster.  Now fans will be glad to hear that 2K Games has set a new cut-off date set several months before the scheduled release of the game.  Meaning that its initial roster and future DLC should be more up-to-date than ever before.

A big criticism of WWE games has always been with its repetitive commentary.  Not only was the commentary repetitive, much of the dialogue wouldn’t make any sense to what’s going on in the ring.  Now it has been revealed that Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler and Michael Cole have recording their own commentary especially for WWE 2K15, which is a first in the long running series.

This means that their commentary should be far more relevant to wants happening in the ring and EACH commentator will record over 30 hours of dialogue totalling to a whopping 60 hours!  Now that should help tame that repetition that has plagued the series over the years.

WWE2K15 Bray Wyatt

Another new inclusion to the WWE 2K15 roster that will surely go down well with the buzzard followers is that Bray Wyatt will be included in this year’s roster, so to presumably will the other two members of the Wyatt family with Erick Rowan and Luke Harper.  Now let’s sing together “He’s got the whole world in his hands…he’s got the whole world in his hands…he’s got the…whole world…in his hands!

In potentially related news, thanks to the eagle eyes over at PWInsider.com, they noticed an ad by WWE calling for a Sting body-double or at least that’s what the description gives a clear indication of.  Below is a description taken from the add:

Body double age 38-50, who is, “6’2, 250lb of pure muscle. Prefer a guy with wrestling experience, very fit. HEAVILY muscular. Slightly longer dark hair. Will have a full face of make up on.

But then over at the Wrestling Observer, they reported:

This is not a WWE project but a project from another agency that works with WWE” and clarified that “Sting has not signed as of today with WWE.

Now this isn’t much to go by, though it does look rather suspicious.  Apparently WWE did something very similar in regards to Brock Lesnar a few years ago.  As most wrestling fan would know that Sting and WWE has not always had the best of relationships and WWE have been trying to sign him up for many years now.  But if you think back to when the late great Ultimate Warrior was announced as a character in WWE 2K14, wrestling fans will also know of the bad blood that once stood between him and Vince McMahon.

WWE2K15 Roman Reigns

Would it really be impossible to think that Sting might just appear as a character in WWE 2K15 and perhaps then he might follow in the footsteps of the Ultimate Warriors and be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame the day before Wrestlemania 31?  If I’ve learned something over the many years of being a WWE fan, is that you can’t rule anything out.

Hopefully we’ll hear much more WWE 2K15 news in the coming months and when we do, I’ll be sure to update you as and when I find out anything new, oh and remember to “Follow…the buzzards!”

WWE 2K15 will release for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on October 28th in North America and the 31st across Europe.
