Today an anonymous source gave IGN the basic story premise of the newly announced Gears of War: Judgment, here’s what they said:

Baird, Cole, Garron, and Sofia — the four members of Gears of War: Judgment’s Kilo Squad — have been charged for treason because they didn’t follow orders, stole equipment, and their actions could end up killing millions of people they swore to protect.

This is the first that we have heard of Garron and Sofia, but seeing as the four player co-op was so successful in Gears of War 3, I’m sure it will return in the new entry and players will be able to control them throughout the story.

According to Gearspedia:

Kilo Squad was a Coalition of Ordered Governments army infantry squad in the 4th Ephyra Light Infantry. It was composed of four Gears, including Augustus Cole and Damon Baird.

The 4th Ephyra Light infantry had three pivotal history moments, one being the Battle of Kinnerlake, the second being the Hammer of Dawn Counterattack and the third being the Patrol South of Jacinto. Below are a brief description of each found on Gearspedia:

Battle of Kinnerlake

A month after Emergence Day, the 4th Ephyra Light Infantry was tasked with reinforcing the city of Kinnerlakeafter the Locustattacked it. The unit flew there in dozens of King Ravens, but came under heavy fire almost immediately after landing. The Gearsmanaged to regroup, and assaulted a mall in which the Locust had established themselves.

Hammer of Dawn Counterattack

A year later, the Hammer of Dawncounterattack was being prepared. Elements of the 4th Ephyra Light Infantry were dispatched to guard checkpoints leading to the Jacinto Plateau. Kilo Squad guarded one checkpoint, and Pvt.Augustus Cole moved barricades around to allow more cars through into safe zone.

Patrol South of Jacinto

One hundred and ninety days after the strike, Kilo Squad was patrolling south of Jacinto City when it came underattack by Locust. The squad managed to defeat the Locust, using the new Chainsaw Bayonets on their Mk 2 Lancer Assault Rifles. They then returned to base in their Armadillo.
