What I Would Like to See in Dawnguard

With Dawnguard arriving sometime in the Summer, here are five things that I would love to see in the this substantial add-on:

  • New Skill Tree for Vampires and Werewolves – Playing as a werewolf has its moments of fun, but without any real progression, for instance feeling stronger or being able to run faster, it often feels mundane and pointless. This can easily be fixed with the inclusion of Perks, which could also be used with the new addition of Vampires. Maybe even introduce a new levelling system separate from your main character, this would add more incentive to play as either a werewolf or vampire.
  • Make Being a Vampire Fun– For all those that played as a vampire in Oblivion, I think it’s safe to say that it wasn’t at all fun and in some cases ruined the experience. Hence this needs to be fixed with Dawnguard, the whole point of wanting to play as another character is to feel powerful. Having the ability to fly or at least hover would be a good start to this, being able to feel extra strong and making each attack with an enemy have an impact. In Oblivion, the disadvantages outweighed the advantages, so this needs to slightly reversed in Dawnguard, maybe making the disadvantages a lot less life threatening.
  • Interesting Story– The premise of Dawnguard seems to be fairly simple at the moment, two siding factions fighting each other. There is nothing wrong with this as long as it has a strong backbone of a deeper story. It would be a shame if it had a similar structure to the companions and their fight against the Silver Hand. It would be nice to see a backstory to the vampires and the dawnguard, with engaging characters that develop constantly to keep you entertained.
  • No Glitches– It would be a dream if this add-on was glitch free and I applaud Bethesda for wanting to do a beta test for the Xbox 360. A few glitches now and then are ok, but it can take you out of the experience, and Dawnguard looks like something that I want to be fully engaged in and glitches could make this a problem. I know I’m asking for a lot but PLEASE Bethesda DO TRY!!

Is there anything you would like to see in the add-on? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
