A vibrant universe, floating islands, airships, magic, an emphasis on player choice, and anthropomorphic animals? Stories: The Hidden Path has certainly set itself up to be an interesting Action RPG.

In depth information is pretty thin on the ground – we don’t know anything about the gameplay other than it’s an Action RPG – and story details don’t paint a clear picture. But what we do know is, the protagonist here is called Reynardo. He’s a ‘sky corsair’ and the sole remaining vanguard. As such he is the last line of defence against an imperial armada that is out to take over the realm.

A post on PlayStation Blog informs that choices will be an important feature of the game:

We’re building Stories to feel like an enchanted book with a different tale to tell each time you open it. Every choice you make in the game affects the storyline in real-time, and the narrator adapts his tale dynamically to reflect your course of action. We want to make Stories more than a traditional action-RPG, so we’re crafting a fresh storytelling system that we think will bring extra charm — and maybe even a few surprises.

If developer Spearhead Games manages to pull off this player choice aspect of the game, it could spell some really interesting dynamic storytelling (and gameplay, hopefully), as well as a bunch of extra replay value. And Judging from the screenshots and trailer it looks like a bright and colourful title, with plenty of potential to charm us (a fox flying an airship, you say?).

There’s no release date as of yet, though the game is due to come to PS4 soon, and we’ll be publishing more information as it comes.
