The official title for the upcoming Resident Evil movie reboot has been revealed (via IGN).

The name of the reboot directed by Johannes Roberts will officially be called “Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City”.

Seeing as this reboot will be an adaptation of the first two original Resident Evil titles which features both the Spencer Mansion and Raccoon City, this official title is perfect in my book.

The movie will be set in 1998, the same as the original video games, and will feature many nods to its source material and its characters.  Though I’m sure we’ll get more than a few surprises thrown into the mix.

The Resident Evil reboot is being produced by Constantin Film, who was the company behind the original movie series.  However, you might be pleased to know that this movie has nothing to do with Paul W.S Anderson and Mila Jovovich.

The cast of the Resident Evil movie reboot includes Kaya Scodelario (Claire Redfield), Robbie Amell (Chris Redfield), Hannah John-Kamen (Jill Valentine), Tom Hopper (Albert Wesker), Aven Jogia (Leon S. Kennedy), Neal McDonough (William Birkin) and Donal Logue (Chief Brian Irons).

The Resident Evil movie reboot will release this year on September 3rd

It’s going to be a great year for Resident Evil fans!  We have the live-action and animated series from Netflix this year, and of course, we have Resident Evil 7 releasing on May 7th for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
